Functional Fitness


At HIVE, we use functional fitness to help you become a better version of yourself.  We practice movements that we use in everyday life, and help you become stronger in them so that you can tackle life outside of the gym.  

Our priority is coaching you to get you where you want to be.  Whether you are new to working out, or you are experienced in the gym, we have you covered.  Our group classes are just an hour long, and are completely coach led.  We make sure you have a complete warm up, are instructed in the skills and drills necessary for the class, and ready to go when the workout of the day (WOD) begins.  You can expect to have a coaches eyes on you, checking your form and giving you feedback to help you improve.  At HIVE, you won't need to plan your workout, because we've already done that for you!  Just show up and be prepared to have fun.

Outside The Box




HIVE will help you take on life's adventures outside of the gym.  Your level of fitness determines whether you are safely able to reach a goal of hiking all of the 48 4K footers, or walk up and down a flight of stairs.  It determines whether you can carry in your groceries or pick up a child or grandchild without injuring yourself.  Your ability to do any number of things- from getting up off of the floor or rising out of a chair, to pulling yourself back into a boat, skiing, mountain biking, or ice-climbing- is determined by or limited to your level of fitness.  

Our commitment to out of the box fitness extends to our memberships, which include a monthly community focused activity.  It's our mission to make fitness accessible, and part of that access includes playing in the biggest gym of all...the great outdoors.

We believe that being part of something bigger than ourselves is an essential human need, and recognize that fitness and mental health are connected.  We strive to create a welcoming environment that is supportive, encouraging, and helps members stay accountable to one other, not just to themselves.  We believe every bee in the HIVE has value, and no one should be left to struggle alone.  
 
Bob and Julie Hill have lived, worked, and played in the Mount Washington Valley of NH for over 20 years.  Bob is a NH native, and Julie grew up in the greater Portland area of Maine.  They have three adult children.  Click on About Us to read their bios.
